10 Days Before the Hottest Summer: What Should You Do?

Outdoor Living Pod

A heatwave is on the cards as forecasters claim Britain is just 10 days away from the start of what is shaping up to be the warmest Summer for more than a century. A freak movement in weather patterns will see temperatures climb to an impressive 30°in early June, followed by three months of exceptionally warm weather, meaning it is quite likely the highest ever recorded temperature will be surpassed over the coming months.

These predictions are based on meteorological circumstances, with experts agreeing an “unprecedented heatwave is approaching,” suggesting the Summer of 2016 could put previous “hot years” such as 1915, 1949, 1959, 1976 and 2003 firmly in the shade.

James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, explains: “From the start of next week we will see high pressure building in across the country to bring dry weather and prolonged periods of sunshine for many. This will bring a surge in temperatures for the majority, and temperatures could approach the mid 20s at the very least in places. We can expect these changes to become even more prominent throughout the start of the meteorological Summer and in time for the Bank Holiday Weekend.”

Patio Awning

Whilst this comes as exceptionally well-received news for those of us wishing to get outside and soak up the sunshine following the passing of a long British Winter, it is not such positive news for those homes that are prone to overheating in the sun. However, with the installation of an innovative shading solution from Caribbean Blinds you needn’t suffer with an unbearably home this Summer.

With so much emphasis placed on insulation to retain heat in our homes during the Winter months, the insulation of glazing to prevent unwanted heat in the Summer is commonly overlooked. And with temperatures expected to soar over the common months, this level of discomfort is only set to accelerate for thousands of homeowners up and down the country. Although vast expanses of glass in modern renovations, extensions and new-builds create a desirable bright, spacious internal environment, this influx of heat and light can cause a number of problems which can prove detrimental to our health, particularly during the height of Summer.

External Roller Blinds

An external shading solution, such as our state-of-the-art external blinds, can be installed to manage the entry of solar heat and light to restore much cooler and more comfortable interior temperature for residents. By effectively preventing overheating in the Summer whilst eradicating glare all year round, our external roller blinds outperform any other interior shading device to provide a passively cooled and naturally lit space 365 days a year whilst adding instant kerb appeal to the property.
