Overhaul Your Outside Space

Patio Awning

With Spring just around the corner, February is the ideal time to undertake any garden projects so you can enjoy your newly-transformed space to its full potential once the good weather arrives. With that in mind, here are some effortless-yet-effective ways for designing an elegant outside space that’s sure to be the envy of all your friends and family!

Liven Up The Lawn
Lawns can often look unkempt through overuse or excess shade. If your lawn is looking a little worse for wear, why not construct a low-maintenance non-plant surface with paving, gravel, pebbles or bark chips? These materials will give the garden floor an instant facelift whilst adding textural contrast.

Enhance Edges
If the edges between your lawn and garden beds lack definition, try planting one species of a low growing evergreen plant at the front of the border for an instant tidy-up. Alternatively, you could consider installing an edging of brick, small flagstones or terracotta tiles for a well-presented finish.

Outside Space

Blur Boundaries
It’s important that garden walls do not dominate your outside space. If this is the case, reduce their impact by painting them a contemporary shade of charcoal grey; or plant a series of climbers against the wall for visual wow.

Gain A Garden Room
If you’re looking to expand your existing living space whilst making the most of your terrace/patio area, our award-winning Outdoor Living Pod provides a flexible, adaptable all-weather living space. Featuring an impressive louvered roof which opens and closes at the touch of the button, alongside LED lighting and infra-red heating, our Pod provides full use of your garden 365 days a year, with the perfect environment for dining, relaxing and socialising with friends. However, if you're looking to use your garden on a more seasonal basis, our stylish retractable patio awnings, available in a wide range of colours, are an excellent choice for complimenting any outside space.

Inject Interest
A strong focal point is crucial for enhancing any garden design, and this can include a variety of elements such as a pond, a waterfall or a striking plant. If you’re limited on space, opt for a smaller feature such as a micro water feature or a bench.

Polish Up Paving
All paved surfaces require some basic maintenance to keep them looking their best. A blitz of weed killer on paving will help keep weeds at bay, whilst a regular wash with soapy water (or occasionally a power washer) will ensure your driveway and patio remain spick and span all-year-round.

Spruce Up Structures
A new coat of paint will work wonders on tired benches, gazebos and trellises. Try a vibrant shade- such as a sunny yellow or tranquil turquoise- for adding a pop of colour to your outside space.

Tidy Trees
February is a good month for removing dead and low growing branches from the trees as this will enable the plants beneath to grow better ahead of the new season. You may even have a tree that is so large it is impairing your garden’s growth and beauty. If you think this is the case, a trained tree specialist will be able to advise you on the correct course of action.
