Letherede - Vulnerable Housing
Tenants stay in the dark with our guided external roller blind systems mounted to the windows and doors of their snoozelum. A sound sleep guaranteed.
The Letherede scheme saw the conversion and extension of a large residential dwelling into 4 apartments to house vulnerable adults with autism. Part of the works included the creation of a snoozelum to the back of the property which would provide a place to relax and unwind for the residents. Featuring windows to all 3 elevations, panoramic views of the extensive garden and fields beyond are maintained with the room filling with large amounts of daylight.
Caribbean were specified to provide blackout blinds to all windows which would also create a thermal barrier eliminating solar heat gain. The selected Dominica external roller blinds are fitted with optional side guides (instead of wires) with fabric cover profiles, so that there is no gap between the edge of the fabric and side guide, subsequently meaning no annoying strips of light shining through, offering total blackout.
Operation is through an effortless gear box and detachable crank handle allowing the blinds to be easily functionned, with them able to be stopped at any desired midway position. The fabric chosen was in a complimentary colour to the facade whilst the hardware was finished to match the window / door frames and soffit boards.
A cost effective blackout external blind solution was provided within just a few weeks.
