Built-In Frost Protection

Outdoor Living Pod - roof auto open via sensor

All new installations of our Outdoor Living Pod, installed from next week (w/c 19th January) onwards, will come equipped with a frost protection sensor embedded in the circuit board as standard. The sensor, if the ambient temperature drops below 2 degrees centigrade, automatically triggers the roof louvers when closed to open approx 10 degrees, to stop the rubbers on the leading edge of the roof louvers freezing together, thereby preventing any damage to the seals and / or motor should the Outdoor Living Pod roof be operated in freezing conditions.

Whilst the temperature remains below 2 degrees centigrade, the roof louvers can be operated, rotating between 10 – 150 degrees, however, they will not rotate to the fully closed position (ie the remaining 10 degrees) until the ambient temperature raises above 2 degrees.Outdoor Living Pod, operation in frost

If there is a specific reason for the roof to remain closed in freezing conditions, it is possible for us to switch the frost protection sensor off, however, any damage that occurs either to the rubbers or roof motor through operation in freezing conditions, would be at the clients liability and as such a disclaimer would need to be signed. If you wish to have the sensor switched off please notify the consultant on survey.
