Client Satisfaction: External Blinds Installation

External Roller Blinds

Mr & Mrs Taylor were carrying out their dream renovation to their home in Hertfordshire, which included the addition of a new single storey extension open plan living space, fitted with glazing running the full width to allow the space to flood with natural light and to give them unparalleled views of the expansive countryside to the rear.

Understanding that this level of glazing would need shading to stop the living space from overheating and to prevent glare, the client took a visit to Grand Designs Live earlier in the year following research online, to see first hand our external roller blind system and how the materials that blocked the heat but not the view worked.

As the property was going through the construction phase, we discussed key points with the client, including the space needed above the door for the fixed element of the blind (headbox) along with the width required for the side channels and how these would be attached back.

When the glazing was installed, we organised for our surveyor to carry out a detailed surveyor to obtain manufacture dimensions, where it was found there were several obstacles to overcome. The glazing contractor had in error installed protruding external handles on the doors, meaning we would need to set the blinds forward from the glazing to allow the blind to run to the ground and additionally the packer to the top of the glazing which created the void (space) for the headbox, was in raw timber, which with us now needing to set the blind forward from the glazing would be visible.

We discussed with the client how we could easily tackle these issues, installing our full height aluminium spacer, which builds the depth of the side channel up in 10mm increments to overcome protrusions such as door handles, meaning the blind still mounts to the glazing frame, to appear an integrated part of the fenestration but is set away in this instance 50mm to overcome the door handle. Additionally where the blind headbox was now set forward of the glazing, we would mount to the rear of the headbox a colour co-ordinated aluminium horizontal bridging strip to hide the timber packer above the glazing.

Less than 6 weeks from survey, our team turned up to carry out the installation of the blinds and this is what the client had to say about their experience with us:

“I am absolutely thrilled with the look of the blinds.

The reassurance from the surveyor at the survey stage with regard to the bespoke solutions you could offer to fit our situation was for well founded, the design and finish matching the aluminium doors and windows seamlessly. The aesthetic aspect outside is excellent and the graphite grey frame with bronze fabric looks spot on. I would not want to search any further for a better product.

The work was carried out extremely efficiently with care taken to tidy up, even overnight during the installation.

I would definitely recommend Caribbean Blinds to anyone.”

As the review above shows, what we discuss and agree at survey, comes to fruition at installation. This all happens because everyone involved in the process works for Caribbean, we do not sub-contract any of our work and furthermore and equally as important, we are dedicated solely to the field of external shading, we do not get involved in any other product lines (such as garage doors or interior blinds) so therefore are truly experts in the market. You won’t find another company like us in the industry, who is as passionate about what they do and so proud to deliver on their promises, with a solution to all applications, to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
