The Brief
As part of a wider build project, the client wanted to enclose a large veranda area to create a space that could be used comfortably throughout the year.
The key requirements were:

The solution needed to be technically robust, visually refined, and seamlessly coordinated alongside ongoing construction works.
The Solution
Following a full review of architectural drawings, virtual and on-site consultations, and close collaboration with both contractor and client, we specified our Dominica External Blinds — chosen for their ability to combine high performance with sleek, minimalist design.
High-Performance Weather Protection
To create a truly sheltered environment, blockout, non-perforated high-tensile acrylic fabric was specified to maximise privacy and improve heat retention, that is both fade and water resistant ensuring long term durability and consistent appearance.
Ziplock side-guide technology within our blind system creates a sealed edge, preventing draughts and significantly improving wind resistance. An integrated dampener system further enhances durability by absorbing pressure loads, working similarly to a seatbelt, allowing controlled movement while keeping the fabric securely tensioned.
Engineered for Large Openings
The veranda featured wide spans requiring a solution that could deliver both performance and visual consistency. Our Dominica blinds can span up to 6 metres wide, whilst maintaining a taut, stable fabric. Clean, uninterrupted lines ensure the system complements the architecture rather than dominating it.
Collaborative Project Delivery
As the veranda and patio levels were still under construction, this project required a proactive and flexible approach. Blinds were fabricated off-plan to maintain programme timelines with final adjustments, including on-site trimming of side guides, completed on site during install following finish of the levels.
This demanded close coordination between all parties, ensuring accuracy without delaying the build — a clear demonstration of our commitment to precision and adaptability.
Smart Home Integration
A key requirement was full integration with the home’s Rako smart-control system, enabling effortless control of all six blinds. This involved, detailed wiring schematics issued at first fix stage, ongoing coordination with the electrician and automation specialist, with on-site commissioning and testing to ensure seamless operation. The result is a system that operates intuitively as part of the wider home environment.
Installation
Installation was completed by our own in-house team, ensuring precise alignment across all six blinds and a consistent, seamless integration with the surrounding structure and finish.
