Today, our 3 forklift truck operators have undertaken their refresher training courses (undertaken every 3 years) to ensure they remain competent and skilled in the safe operation of our counterbalance forklift truck.
The training was carried out on site at our factory so it was relevant to the types of loads our operators pick up and move on a daily basis which includes:
- Unloading of stillage’s from lorries containing aluminium extrusions for our blinds upto 7m in length and positioning them in the correct bays
- Unloading of pallets containing rolls of fabric from trucks and lifting them to the storage area for our sewing department on our first floor mezzanine
- Loading of scrap metal containers onto a truck for recycling
- Moving and emptying of waste bins into skip
The training course aswell as being practical to ensure correct operating skills such as manoeuvring loads around a chicane (as pictured), which only just had enough room to pivot the truck round the tight corners, also included a theory element covering current legislation along with pre-use inspection, weight assessment and safe operating conditions.
All our operators passed with flying colours, reaffirming their counterbalance forklift truck driving skills.
