Introducing our most sustainable awning fabric ever!

Caribbean Blinds sustainable awning fabric

As the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-quality external shading solutions, we are proud to announce the launch of a brand-new, more sustainable awning fabric.

The collection is known as 393 ELEMENTS CROSS FIBRE and successfully meets the highest environmental standards, thanks to its Made in Green certification. It also offers exceptional style and performance and, importantly, comes at no additional cost to the customer.

The 393 ELEMENTS CROSS FIBRE fabric is made using approximately 30% recycled yarn, which would have otherwise been discarded due to its lack of colour purity, helping to dramatically reduce any unwanted waste. And here’s how.

Typically, in the creation of coloured fabrics, the transition between different colour batches is not always smooth, leading to small quantities of mixed-tone fibres. These fibres were previously discarded as waste during the production process, but it is now possible to repurpose them to prevent this. The mixed-tone fibres are carefully collected, sorted, and spun into yarn before being incorporated into the high-quality 393 ELEMENTS CROSS FIBRE fabric. By using this recycled yarn in the weft, which constitutes approximately 30% of the finished fabric, we can maintain consistent visual and technical properties, ensuring the product is more sustainable while retaining the highest standards of quality.

This new addition to our offering is testament to our team’s passion for creating innovative and functional products.

Stuart Dantzic, MD at Caribbean Blinds, said: “Sustainability is not just a buzzword at Caribbean Blinds, but something we live and breathe. We launched the first PVC-free external screen fabric many years ago in the UK and I’m super excited that we can continue to build on fabrics which are more environmentally friendly.

“Offering a range that is produced with almost a third of fibres that are effectively re-used, and which would have otherwise gone to waste, provides another great example of how we are continuing to drive the industry forward and shape it for the future.”

There are 6 contemporary designs in the 393 ELEMENTS CROSS FIBRE range which can be used across our entire awning range. The collection will be officially unveiled at the British Blind & Shutter Show from 27th – 29th October. In addition the range will be on permanent display in our showroom at our Head Office & Factory in Sudbury, Suffolk, where all materials and products can be viewed along with the meticulous attention to detail and skill that goes into crafting our systems.
