The U.N. weather agency is warning of 'fundamental change' in the global climate along with continued warming, following the news that the first four months of 2016 were the hottest globally in 136 years. WMO global director Dr. David Carlson revealed the new data showed 370 straight months of warm or warmer-than-average temperatures worldwide, with Carlson explaining that "the state of the climate so far this year gives us much cause for alarm."
Whilst El Nino, which factored into 2016's record-breaking heat, has now dissipated, meteorologists believe greenhouse gases emitted from human activities remain the underlying cause of this persistent warming. Furthermore, with temperatures continuing to rise due to Climate Change, overheating in buildings is only set to continue, causing the level of discomfort for homeowners to accelerate.
Large expanses of glass in modern extensions, renovations and new builds are often to blame, with heat and light (glare) causing internal temperatures to soar, resulting in a highly uncomfortable interior environment. And with 54% of people saying overheating would influence their decision when purchasing a home, the demand for a sustainable and effective solution to this issue has never been greater.
With an external shading solution, such as our innovative external roller and roof blinds, we are able to restore a considerably cooler and more comfortable interior temperature within your home. By preventing overheating in the Summer and eliminating glare 365 days a year, our external blinds outperform any other interior shading device to deliver a passively cooled and naturally lit space along with adding kerb appeal to your property.
For example, we've just fitted this external roof blind to one half of this apex roof conservatory in Welwyn Garden City. This blind will prevent unwanted solar heat gain, guaranteeing a newly-transformed interior space that can be enjoyed throughout all four seasons.
