Wall Sealing Strip For OLP

Since the launch of our Outdoor Living Pod (OLP) back in January 2012, the product has gone from strength to strength and as our fastest growing product line we're continually enhancing and improving the product. Our latest product improvement is based upon installer feedback and al-beit only a small change to the installation detail, it's a finishing touch that makes all the difference.

Traditionally when our OLP is installed abutting a property a flexible water repellent silicone seal (similar to what is used on window installations) is run between the rear of the structure and the property wall. Whilst this method has proved effective and without problems, silicone as with any type of mastic sealing can discolour which is not pleasing if looking out of a bedroom window from above and there is the possibility of it degrading despite being of the highest grade. Furthermore its messy and awkward to create a neat but water repellent seal especially when its being applied against a rough facade such as a heavy render or old stone brickwork.

A new channel featured within the rear of the cross member of the OLP now allows for a specially designed rubber sealing strip (as shown in the photo) to be inserted which compresses against the property, perfectly following the contours of the wall to provide a neat, flexible, water repellent seal, with any water running down the facade simply running over this lip and into the internal guttering system neatly hidden within the structure of the OLP. We will still continue as a secondary and pre-cautionary measure to run a silicone sealing strip between the structure and wall, however, the rubber sealing strip will cover this up both protecting it from the elements and keeping it out of sight.

The rubber sealing strip is being included on all installations with immediate effect and comes colour co-ordinated to suit your OLP hardware colour – white for white hardware and grey for grey hardware.

As our entire workforce is employed directly by us and every one of our team genuinely love what they do, whether an order processor, surveyor, technician, installer, etc they, aswell as our engineers and European partners look at ways to improve our products, installation methods and processes because they really care about the product and their role. It's this care and attention to detail that you just wont receive elsewhere and what really sets us apart.
